Unveiled Reflections

Embracing True Self Through Poetry

She is a flower blooming in the dark,

Yet her essence still radiates.

She is a treasure in a box,

Locked away and guarded by a dragon.

She is a submarine,

Gliding through the water,

Silently surfacing for air only at night.

She is a spy in enemy territory,

Always on ward,

Never letting down her guard.

She is a character in a noir novel,

Building a secret garden,

Hidden away from the prying eyes of the world.

She is on a tiny island in the middle of a vast ocean,

All she can see are waves crashing on the shore,

But never the horizon.

She is a pearl inside an oyster's shell,

So alluring but ultimately unattainable.

She is a candle in the secluded greenhouse,

Her secret flickering in the shadows.

She is a glowing ember under a pile of ashes,

Her soul smolders just below the surface,

Waiting to burst into flame.

But she accept her fate like a hot coal

And it burned through her soul

As the realization dawned on her

Her shoulder relaxed

Like hot iron in the water

It’s her kiss to the forehead

Her warm blanket in the cold winter night

It’s her marking

A gift to oneself

As the tension that had been building

In her chest since forever melts away.

Baking Poetry

You love cooking

As much as I love writing

Baking is your poetry

Your Whisk dance like a pen

Your tasting palate

Is where you keep the metaphor

It’s your journal

I would say

I only know the oven

As your one true friend

She never betrayed your expectation

The kitchen is your library

The ocean of imaginations

It warps time for you

As magical as writing table

Does to mine

I published my work

You sell yours

I did it all for happiness

But I don’t know about you

Is standing all day for one cake

Are the things that heal you?

Or is it because you have to?

Either way

You and all that

Is a poetic dedication after all

And that’s just one

Out of gazillion reasons

For how huge the measure

Of how much

I adore you, Ma!

My Bedroom Door

My bedroom door is crooked

They've been fixing it for weeks

Installed and ripped off again

They thought it was the hinges

It wasn’t

They changed the door leaf

Still not working

They fixed the handle

It got worse

I studied Communication Science in college

But from my non-expert eyes on doors

I can tell that it’s the wall they should be replacing

Not the door

So my bedroom wall is crooked

Not the door!

Tingkah Lucu Manusia

Kadang murung, kadang riang
Kadang senang, kasang gusar
Tak tertebak, bagai aksi panggung pesulap terkenal
Mudah muncul, mudah hilang

Dikasih ringan, ingin yang lebih berat
Dikasih berat, malah mengeluh dan menghujat
Dikasih mudah, bilangnya kurang menantang
Dikasih tantangan, malah memaki semesta dianggap tak berpihak

Lucu memang tingkah manusia

Lucu memang tingkah manusia,
Semoga pohon tak pernah berharap menjadi salah satunya

The Tale of Giving and Accepting

Some of us
Were talking about the art of letting go
Whenever we witnessed the rain
The tale of heavy clouds and the falling drops

Some of us
We drawn to the gloom
That served the broken hearted

We're so focused to the things in the sky
That we forgot the amount of rainfall
The earth is willing to accept

Some of us
We learnt her wisdom
And understand that sometimes
Mother earth is tired of tolerating
Therefore flooded housing is a regular

Some of us
We mastered the lesson
And trying to ask less

Because if there are more of poetic dance
About rain and the earth
Is that they keep giving and accepting
Until one of them
Is no longer contain the water

I Need A Home

I was in my friend's balcony
Replying to your good morning text and thinking
Going back to the same feeling
As you gave before you were leaving

I count every steps I took
Lost in the number where I saw your name in the book
But do I get too far
Or it's just how it is when you're too afraid of another scar

And I'm longing for a home
Found one when our skin touched
Found another when my friend put a blanket on me
But the rain flood me with anxious

And I was on my bed
Listening to the song you gave
I closed my eyes and breathe
Then I saw a home behind these eyelids
Fell asleep with headphones on
And your voice humming within

And I'm longing for a home
So why don't we meet
And share another kiss
Because I need a home
